Summer Camp for Atheists (CNN)

Atheistic summer camps? Yep. Check out this short 2 minute video clip. One thing stuck out to me that I whole heartily agree with: "students should be taught how to think not just what to think." How do you think the students in your youth group would fare in a conversation with the next generation of atheists? Are they being prepared?

Pretty interesting. I say these students would probably smash the average youth group in a debate. I don't know of any Christian camps that have a philosophical or theological purpose behind them in order to train students how to think. It seems churches, youth groups, and camps indoctrinate their students in what to think not how, making them vulnerable to better arguments. Even if these "better arguments" have a false conclusion.

I know that I personally was unprepared for college not only intellectually but practically and emotionally.

There are some good practical applications churches could take from this atheist camp. They are preparing their students to encounter a whole world of ideas. We should take after their example.

Hey Barry, thanks for sharing your thoughts. Actually there are some camps that do this really well, just not enough people know about them.
